While the Web module in Lightroom 1.4.1 was useful, it lacked any output sharpening which would have made the large preview images a bit snappier. Many folks didn't seem to miss this feature but as a photographer who wants to make sure his clients are impressed even with web gallery submissions it kept me from actually using Lightroom's web module. All that has changed now that Lightroom 2.0 has output sharpening included in the Web module. Selecting output sharpening in the web module is as easy as clicking on the Sharpening toggle in the Output Settings dialog near the bottom of the right hand panel as you can see in the screenshot below. In general I have found Low to be my usual setting.

Sadly you can't see the amount of sharpening applied to your large preview images in the center Lightroom window so you'll have to export the web gallery a few times with different sharpening settings and compare them side by side to see what settings you prefer. I prefer to have the large preview sharp but not over-sharpened. I would even tend towards under-sharpening for these previews as over-sharpened looks pretty ugly and it doesn't take much to get there.
