Shortly before the launch of the iPhone 3G, Nielsen Mobile published iPhone statistics they aquired through their "audience measurement and wireless market research" activities. Their press release apparently went mostly unnoticed until now.
According to their data, the iPhone users are predominantly young and rich guys.
67% of US iPhone users are male (in contrast to 48% for all mobile phone users), 55% are under the age of 35 (34% for all mobile phone users) and 63% earn above $75k annually (compared to 38% for all mobile phone users).
Another interesting point is how they use their iPhones: 61% use the iPhone privately, 39% for business.
Also very interesting: Blogpulse graph of iPhone related blog posts which claims up to 1.75% posts about iPhone in recent weeks.
All the stats are pre-iPhone 3G. I hope they publish those again in a couple of months so that we can see if the iPhone 3G changed anything.
