O'Reilly is now distributing the "Take Control" series from TidBITS. If you check out the list you'll see a lot of tempting titles. It's an interesting way for O'Reilly to build out their Mac and iPhone list in addition to the books they publish themselves.
Some days I feel sorry for Apple employees. As their market share has grown, their base has changed. I've been in the Apple store four times this week (three times more than I wanted to be there) and the feeling in there has definitely changed in the past year. It must be hard for the store employees to hear the signal over the noise.
Last week I attended the Java Mobile and Embedded Developer Days in Santa Clara. I'd gone because I produce their community podcasts (http://mobileandmebedded.org). I like the people but was unprepared for how interesting the content was.
Monday morning ... iChat beeps at me to get my attention. The message is, "Hey man, what time does the keynote start."
The advice from my accountant is the same at the end of each year. "Well Daniel," he says, "I'm not telling you to spend money. But if you have a big purchase coming up in the next month you should make it before the end of the year."
I had set this year as the year I would become Microsoft free. I have nothing against Microsoft --- there were just some products I wanted to stop using: IE, Office, and Windows.
