Super Street Fighter II and OC Remix: Fans create soundtrack for game

Now that's what I call interactive music. The fans re-mixed the tunes from the old game, and they got put in the new version of the game. Can you dig it?

It's right here:

There are two groundbreaking concepts at work here.

First, the fans are making the music.

Second, it's not the fans who toe the line and do things "the way they s'pose to be done."

OC Remix has the reputation of being the "not necessarily cool in that normal way" game remix site. They allow--nay, encourage--all those styles whose potential Not-In-Fashion-Ness
might make the game companies shudder. So KUDOS to Capcom for taking the chance and leveraging the spikey weirdness of these very creative and talented folks. It shows a deep understanding of what entertainment is.

And hey. It's about time we saw some Game Audio 2.0!

What better way to celebrate such a revered game by having the actual fans contribute? It's the fans who truly keep the 'retro' interest alive. Let's hope more companies leverage the culture and community like this.

You really understand the essence of this :)
The soundtrack was a great community effort, the first of it's kind and hopefully not the last. If more companies reached out to OCR and similar places like this when a remake or perhaps XBLA game was in the making the world would most certainly see a lot of great and unique music.

Thanks for your support and let's hope for the best!
