VisualHub, AudialHub, and iSquint Discontinued & Open Source-d: Techspansion Shutting Down

A commenter on my personal blog where I talk about Open Source and freeware apps for the the Mac and Windows let me know that Techspansion is shutting down. Techspansion (a one person effort) produces media converters like the well-known VisualHub (for fee) and iSquint (freeware).

Developer Tyler Loch writes on the Techspansion website's front page: After much soul-searching (it's not you, it's me), for personal reasons, Techspansion is closing its virtual doors.
The Support Forum and Support E-mail will be available for a while longer to take care of any remaining issues for you.

He then goes on to explain how to back-up and migrate VisualHub or AudialHub to another Mac. And, finally, Tyler announced the apps will be open sourced and available on Sourceforge: transcoderredux

I have never met Tyler and must admit did not know the name behind VisualHub and iSquint until today. But, I want to say to him: Dude, you are a class act. I'm sure your customers appreciate your backup/migration instructions. And, by Open Sourcing your apps, the door remains open for others to take them on as projects. Best wishes for your next steps.

iSquint is my favorite mac video converter, I love it. As for converting dvd, I'd recommend this mac dvd ripper.

At the risk of sounding stupid is there a dmg file I can download for both these appps somewhere please? The sorceforge link appears to be just source code.

Thanks in advance...

iSquint and VisualHub, the popular video converter on Mac OS X have now gone open source. They also has got new names, Film Redux (VisualHub) and PunyVid (iSquint).

That sucks. good software

Sebastian: Yep, comment spammers sure are becoming better at it. I removed the hot links but left the actual "relevant" text intact to reduce the Google juicing. Glad my blog item brought the Open Source-ing aspect info to you.

Spam keeps getting more "relevant" and "creative" by the day. T_T;

I was sad to see this a few days ago on Lifehacker, but I didn't see that they were open sourced until I saw this post, so at least the good work put into them won't go to waste.
