Waikiki Apple Store Grand Opening

applewaikikitshirt.jpg
Honolulu's third Apple Store opened this morning. The newest Apple Store is in the heart of Waikiki in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. Traffic near there was nutty this morning. So, I bypassed it and got metered parking along the beach.

Couple of trivia items. First, this is the only Apple Store in Honolulu that does not have free parking. That probably explains why they still had t-shirts available even though I actually arrived after the doors had opened. Second, this is the only Apple Store in Honolulu that fronts a street. The other two are in the inner part of the shopping malls.

Please accept my usual apology for my "Blair Witch" style video. And, FYI, footage near the Apple Store starts at 1:21 if you want to skip footage of my walk through the Waikiki beach area.

A friend of mine, Ryan Ozawa, was at the store before dawn. He took a lot of great photos. You can find his photos linked to the sample photo below.

Daniel: Thanks for the correction! I struck out the word "shopping" above.

Ryan: Great video! I recommend people head over to Ryan's video to see a good video with no "Blair Witch" style videography like mine :-)

It's now called the Royal Hawaiian Center... they dropped the "Shopping". Thanks for the coverage!

Thanks for the photo link! I also put together a HD video of the morning's events, including the last few frantic hours of construction to put the finishing touches on the storefront:
