Last Chance: Sennheiser Sonic Logo Contest
While updating my business card the other day, I started to think it would be cool to have an audio logo as well as a graphic one. You've certainly heard these "earcons" — the THX Deep Note, the Duracell coppertop clank, the Intel Inside chimes. . . .
With just a few notes and sound effects, these micro-melodies strive to convey the essence of a brand. (Famously, Harley-Davidson trademarked the sound of its motorcycle engines, but that would be a tough tune to hum.)
Want to try your hand at sonic branding? Until July 17, pro audio company Sennheiser is running a contest to develop its sonic logo. The grand prize is €5,000, plus up to €30,000 more if Sennheiser chooses to license your soundburst worldwide. To enter, visit www.se-soundlogo.com.
And let me know what you think a Batmosphere sounds like.
