Music 2.0: the next chapter for the music industry

My long-time digital music futurist colleague (and sometime collaborator), Gerd Leonhard, has just published a book compiling some of the best of his blog writings and essays (over the past four years) on what's coming next for the music industry. It's aptly titled "Music 2.0". This book continues and expands on some of Gerd's ideas and emerging business models that he wrote about in his first book "The Future of Music" (co-written with Dave Kusek of the Berklee College of Music). In it, he expands on what he thinks the next generation of record labels (and other music-related companies) will actually look like, and it delves even deeper into some of his well-known catch phrases such as "Music Like Water", "Flat Rates for Music", "Feels Like Free", "Friction is Fiction", and "The People Formerly Known As Consumers". You can order a copy of the book at Music 20book.com -- or download the free PDF of the book if you prefer (licensed under Creative Commons). For anyone with a serious interest in digital music - and where things are headed, I encourage you to review this collection; it's really chock-ful of wise insights and recommendations.
