iPod touch January Upgrade Issue Resolved
I ran into a problem when I tried to upgrade my daugther's iPod touch with the January Upgrade after successfully upgrading mine back on January 16. Two two problems were (1) the second iPod touch did not get upgraded and (2) I was charged three times for the upgrade attempts.
My first problem report resulted in a canned response and nothing else. My credit card bill arrived last week showing all three January Upgrade charges. I attempted to go through the iTunes problem reporting process but it kept launching Safari and throwing to to the troubleshooting information page. So, I sent email directly to Apple (using their web form) to try to get this resolved.
I received a response two days later saying that (1) one of the three charges was credited back to me, (2) a January Upgrade was resent to my account, and (3) a 5 song credit had been applied to my account for my troubles. The email message also pointed me to the the Apple support page titled: Installing and verifying the iPod touch January Software Upgrade. I was really relunctant to resync my daughter's iPod touch and wipe out everything there. But, nothing else had worked (the January Upgrade had not yet synced). So, I followed the instructions to reset the iPod and resync. The January Upgrade upgraded her iPod touch. And, all is relatively well now (except that the left side of her screen seems somewhat insensitive to finger presses... Might need a trip down to the Genius Bar for that).
I wish the resolution had come quicker. But, I am glad that both iPod touch-es are now upgraded.
