Vocalist Live 4: A Gift from the Gods
Just a quick message to capture my enthusiasm for this new version of the Vocalist Live stomp box. I got mine today, and I feel like I've been given a gift that I've been longing for my whole musical life...
As much as I loved the VL-2, I'm even head-over-heels-er over this one.
I can now sing an octave up without sounding like a CHIPMUNK!!! Good Lord. Stop the clock. I have ARRIVED.
That's just one preset, and it's going to change my life. This box does sooooo much more, and it elegantly walks the line of being very easy-to-use and very full-featured/flexible. Clearly the developers have again shown remarkable insight appropriate to the occasion. For instance, the biggest problem I had with the VL-2 was that I kept leaving it on and sounding ridiculous when I spoke. Get this: The VL-4 can be programmed so that the "harmony" footswitch is momentary! Would I have thought of that? I like to think so. But I didn't. And they did. Damn.
Words can not express. Perhaps I can do another Podcast demo with Dave Battino on this one. Wait 'till you guys hear how "Whole Lotta Love" sounds _NOW!!!" It really really sounds like I'm singing an octave higher than I really can. I mean, just thinking about the possibilities that are open to me now that weren't before...I shed a little tear.
WOW, I wonder if this will work on my TRUMPET!!!????

Nice idea, Dave, but free in the VL-4 are such presets as "Eaglets," "Purple Rn" an awesome "CSN," and a hilarious "Bob." The CSN even has the warbly voice on top. Kicks Butt.
Very cool George! I'm sorry I'm missing this year's BBQ to hear it all happen. But dig this... How about VL-4 presets named/licensed for the famous vocalists that they sound like.
Some preset ideas: Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury, Mick Jagger, Roger Daltry, Tiny Tim, the Shaggs....
Think of the possibilities!
Perhaps I can do another Podcast demo with Dave Battino on this one.
Hey, any time, George. Maybe at Project Bar-B-Q next week? Everyone who's mentioned that episode to me remarks how much fun the Vocalist sounds.
Which reminds me...Vocalist co-inventor Peter Lupini recently shared this story:
