Do You Sing and Play Guitar? YOU MUST BUY THIS.
You know how I am...I never recommend gear, I just wax all philosophical about theories and such.
However.
I am currently so stinking excited I can't sit still!!!!
Don't tell the other guys, we jam tonight, and I have a--no, no, not "A.."
no, I have THE--coolest secret weapon ever. I'm giddy.
It analyzes what your guitar is playing, and based on that, sings harmony with you. Correctly. Musically. Amazingly. This is not just a matter of breadboarding a circuit and shoving it into the market's soft underbelly...this thing is WARM, musical, and Beautiful.
They call it the Digitech Vocalist Live 2. Yes, I know, the name is unspectacular, and yes, it looks like an even less spectacular '80's early digital crummy stomp box. But I'm tellin' ya, this is a "push-one-button, sound-like-God" box.
Have I earned your trust by keeping quiet so long? It doesn't matter. You can click on the demo, or you can miss out...
CLICK ON THE PICTURE. LISTEN TO THE DEMO.
NO, it is not like the rest of the harmonizers. NO, it is not the result of a corporation telling their engineers to " 'use' the 'available' 'technology' to make a 'killer' 'app.'"
This was made by my Project BBQ buddy Peter Lupini and his two friends, Glen Rutledge and Norm Campbell, who together make up 3dB Research.. I had lunch with them at the NAMM show in LA, just after the product was unveiled. They are just the kind of people you want designing your rock n roll technology. They're Canadian mathemeticians, something like you'd find in a "Real Genius" movie, with a bunch of Ph.D's and P.Eng's after their names. When we hung out, they were wearing matching shirts, cracking great jokes, and ernestly glowing about how much satisfaction they were getting from having walked this thing through to completion.
And What Completion!!
Unlike most MI (Musical Instrument) manufacturers these days, the Canadian Doctors did their homework, crammed the unit full of theory, and tested the Holy bejesus out of it (there is NO bejesus left in this thing).
As soon as I can figure out how to post big long files, I'll send y'all the actual realtime recordings of me (and my buddy Joe) plugging the thing in and trying it for the first time. NO setup time, I'm tellin' ya. and we're lauging coffee out our noses at how awesome we sound.
As Dad says, "Would I steer you wrong?"
