"Air Guitar Shirt" allows you to create "Real Music"
Wait...just a sec...the phone is ringing. "Hello? What? What's that? You're calling from where? A Mile Away??? And you saw this COMING???"

I heard a blurb on NPR today about this, and it made me think, "I should look this up."
BUT. When they said it allows the person wearing it to play "real music," I turned off the radio. I don't particularly care for anything that is described in its press release as "real music." Ever since the days we used to test sound cards under "Fat Labs," I learned that when you hear somebody selling you a product using the words "as though," it actually means "run like hell."
"And Baby Groupies-a-lot cries Real Tears(R) when she sees you play your Rock Shirt(R)!!!"
I dunno. Build one into a jock strap and I might go for it. The "Guitar Strap." The "Rock Jock." The Organ.
So feel free to laugh and say, "I told you so" when, in the future, you see me riding a Segway through the mall, playing air guitar all loud on my new shirt. Pink. Maybe add a calabash pipe, a gold-handled cane, and a propeller beanie. Yep. That's the New Meeeeee!!!!

and then there's the hand band ... but ya know, even though these products are kinda laughable, and more hype than music, i gotta wonder: the theremin is a "difficult to play but wonderfully expressive" instrument controlled by waving your hands in the air -- could a high-powered, sophisticated, sensitive, digital (as in fingers) musical instrument be designed to take advantage of wearable computers? could a dancer make music they could dance to by dancing in a musical suit? what would happen if you put a sensor in the wristbands of a roomful of dancers, and let the crowd control the mix? or instead of putting your iPod in your jacket pocket, your iPod *IS* your jacket pocket, controlled by gesture ...
wearable musical instruments -- it wouldn't be the first time a product you laugh at the first time you hear about it evolves into an insanely huge market (ya wanna put a camera in a phone? waddya meshugge!? :)
I had a sudden image of the turbaned guy who skates along Venice Beach playing guitar through a belt-mounted Micro-Marshall (photo). More musical clothing!
