Fair Use
The Center for Social Media has released a small (8p) booklet that provides some guidelines for understanding Fair Use, especially in the context of documentaries. It was developed with the help of filmmakers, lawyers, and I believe the American University School of Law. With the exponential growth of user created content, and videoblogs specifically, I think there's something to glean from it. I also hope it helps answer a few of those nagging questions everyone seems to have about copyright and what they can and can't use in a video.
Do you think this type of public dissemination of legal information places the University at risk? If so, do the potential rewards for society outweigh the risk?
