O’Reilly: Inside RIA

This is the first installment in the diary of an entrepreneur/developer (developeur?) on a mission to build the world's first global web conference. The premise for the Singularity web conference is simple: instead of making you come to the conference, let's make the conference come to you. Let's build a conference that is at once global and local. And, let's make sure that we do not lose sight of the key aspects that we love about conferences: the social interactions, the conversations, the sense of community, the exchange of knowledge, and the forging of new friendships and opportunities. Join Aral Balkan as he chronicles his experiences, as well as those of his friends, as they build the Singularity web conference web site and RIA. The focus of the series will be on developing with web standards and progressive enhancement with Google App Engine, Python, Django, Flex, ActionScript, Flash Media Interactive Server and some cutting-edge APIs like Yahoo GeoPlanet.

There's a brand new web conference on the circuit called Singularity. The conference looks like to have great line up of web luminaries already including Derek Featherstone, Molly Holzschlag, Joshua Hirsch and many more. There's a twist to this conference though in that it's online.
