OSGi is taking over the Java world. The modularity features offered by OSGi have become so popular that it seems like all the major Java enterprise applications and frameworks have adopted OSGi or have plans to. Products and frameworks such as Eclipse (and therefore Flex Builder), Spring, Websphere, Guice, Weblogic, and JBoss all use OSGi. Even organizations such as NASA have adopted OSGi. So what is OSGi and why is it so popular? This article will try to answer those questions and introduce you to Potomac - the new OSGi inspired framework for Flex.
The Dojo Javascript Framework is truly awesome. I'll admit, the documentation is a bit to dig through, but hopefully my experience and previous digging will be of use to you. Don't worry, the only things being thrown around in this "Dojo" are Javascript and web programming ideas you may or may not have seen before. Flash Camo (for short) is a graphics framework that allows AS 3 applications to be easily skinned from pngs, jpgs, or gifs. The framework is broken down into 3 core areas: Decals, the CSS Parser, and the CamoDisplay. These systems can be used individually or combined to fit your needs. When used together they form a powerful set of tools to help skin and style any Flash application. With Camo's modular approach, you can use as little or as much of the framework as you want. The entire framework is under 40k.
