Time-Saver Tip

Here’s a great power-user tip that could save you lots of time and speed up your work flow.

Lift & Stamp and Batch changing of metadata are powerful ways to quickly make changes to large numbers of images in one fell swoop. But sometimes you want to individually tweak adjustments or make minor, unique metadata changes to a smaller group of images.

Know that when you’re working in the Metadata or Adjustments HUD, by Command Clicking while pressing down on the right or left arrow keys, Aperture takes you to the next image, in the same field you were working on.

So, if you needed to quickly make a bunch of caption tweaks, CMD clicking on the right or left arrow keys will let you type in a change, and advance to the next or previous image and make a similar change in the same field.

In the Adjustments HUD, Cmd clicking the right/left arrow keys will take you to the next image with your cursor right next to the slider you had been using in the previous image.

If you prefer to work by the numbers. by typing in your adjustments in the field box to the right of the sliders, CMD clicking will take you to that specific field in the next image ready to type in a new change.

While I’m talking about the field boxes, remember that pressing the Tab Key will let you scroll down the adjustments HUD highlighting each adjustment field.

When you click on the arrows within each field, the default change might be .5. Shift clicking on the arrow in the field box, doubles that change, Option clicking will reduce the difference in the adjustments for more subtle changes.

Once aware of these little shortcuts, they can really speed up your workflow, particularly when making minor tweaks to small numbers of images both in the Adjustments or Metadata HUDS.
