Unsupported Image Format

If you have a camera that writes a RAW file that is currently unsupported by Aperture, you may not be entirely out of luck. First, it is very likely that the team at Apple is busy trying to come...

Looking Back, Looking Forward

It’s American Thanksgiving Day-- time to give thanks to all the creative geniuses that have given us our Aperture Software, and the amazing technology from auto-focus to digital sensors packed with megapixels that don’t need much light, which make it...
It's easy to get accustomed to taking the various features and tools within Aperture at face value without really thinking any further about what they might have to offer. But if you're willing to think outside the box a tad, you may discover a lot of untapped potential. For example, on the surface, the Book tool in Aperture exists to let you create books from your images. As you know, there are options for various layouts, with and without text. You can opt to have Apple generate the books (and by the way, their quality is now quite impressive) or generate a PDF to send to the printer of your choice. But did you realize that you can use the Book tool to create posters or text slides for use in a slideshow?
Last week, I picked up a new 15-inch unibody MacBook Pro. When it was first introduced a few weeks ago, and despite the temptation, I actually decided not to upgrade. I told myself to wait it out until at...

It has been a mantra of mine, always carry a camera with you because you never know when a great photo will present itself. That being said, there have not been too many times when that mantra has yielded great...
How many of you have heard of Cinerama? You can read about it on Wikipedia here, but the short story is that it's an obsolete film technology that used 3 35mm projectors to create a widescreen image. Mainly used during...

I've always been happy to tell people how they should have multiple backups of all their important files, in multiple places - but I've never been quite as strict about it doing it myself as I should have been...

Seeing RED

I received quite a few comments on my post last week regarding my short list of wishes for Aperture 3.0. There were a number of similarities, but one aspect of the comments struck me as sort of odd. It seems,...

A little while ago, Angel Island, an island in the middle of the San Francisco bay, caught fire. It started at about 9:30 and burned through the next day. I found out about it around 11pm, and it seemed like...

Aperture Resources
