More Raw Support
For those of you with the following cameras: Good News!
They are now supported by the operating system which means you can Aperture and iPhoto them to your heart’s content.
I opted to shoot mostly D3 since the D700 wasn't supported when I shot the recent political conventions but there's no holding back now.
Software Update will take care of the update for you.
“This update extends RAW file compatibility for Aperture 2 and iPhoto ’08 for the following cameras:
• Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS/Kiss Digital F/1000D
• Kodak DCS Pro SLR/n
• Nikon D700
• Olympus EVOLT E-420
• Olympus EVOLT E-520
• Olympus SP-570
• Samsung GX-10
• Samsung GX-20
• Sony DSLR-A300
• Sony DSC-R1”

DANGER!
I just updated my MacBook and now when I view RAW files in either Aperture 2.1.1 or iPhoto 7.1.4, they have an ugly magenta cast.
I will not be updating my iMac.
Good luck.
Thanks Steve for posting this!
I just updated on a MacBook Pro, and I'm not seeing the Magenta cast that Kent referred to. I'll do some more testing.
Thanks, Apple is getting much better about support updates, though there's room for improvement. I hope Apple is prepping resources for the Photokina RAW update - well that's what they should call it. Here's hoping for quick LX3 and G10/11 raw updates as I should have one soon- I hope!
Just downloaded some NEF files from my D700 but when i connect the camera it just won't show the thumbnails BEFORE importing in the import window. I just can see the black boxes but no thumbnails.
Somebody else have the same issues ?
UPDATE: Have already received a response from Apple. Am sending a representative RAW file from my A700.
FYI, I have the identical problem when converting from RAW in iPhoto.
Updates to follow.
Apple are just too slow with these updates. Sony DSC-R1? Great camera, really worth suporting. But I guess it's been discontinued well over a year! And where is support for the Fuji sf100s? Maybe it would be quicker if Fuji discontinued it!
We are more who is affected by the magenta problem (A700, nikons...), fx. have a look here:

Really hoping for a quick fix...!
In an effort to deliver timely support for cutting-edge cameras, I heard that Apple is planning to release raw support for the NC2000 some time next year.
This was good news! I did note a problem though.
I had imported my RAW files into Aperture prior to the update. I thought that having loaded the RAW update Aperture would read these files. Nope! I had to delete all my D700 RAW files from my referenced Aperture library and re-import.
Once I did this there was no problem in reading the files.
I installed all the updates that were released yesterday and now Aperture will not launch. I have restarted the system and tried to launch Aperture with nothing else running and it will not work. I can't get in. From iPhoto and iWeb I can't view my Aperture library either. This stinks.
I am running a 2x 2.7ghz G5, OS 10.5.5 and Aperture 2.1.1.
Ken
I just deleted the new RAWCamera bundle from the system library and reverted to the prior version. Aperture is now fully functional. I have no idea why the new RAWCamera bundle will not work with my system.
Ken
I'm wondering if Aperture 2.1 will offer support for the new Nikon RAW format coming out soon in the Coolpix P 6000?
Even after the update to 2.1.1, Aperture still displays a magenta box saying "Unsupported Image Format" for RAW files from my Sony DSC-R1.
Kent's warning is well made. I also have noted very strong color casts in all my D80 RAW photos in Aperture. The previews are fine, at least they are until the full data loads and the preview is updated. The problem does not exist for JPGs and D100 RAW. On other forums, I have seen other with other cameras noting the same problem.
The work around for me was to remove the RAW update and downgrade to RAW 2.1. See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8111770 for details. After the downgrade, everything worked great.
