Aperture 1.5.2 Available

Aperture users can download version 1.5.2 (a whopping 129MBs) via Software Update. According to the accompanying notes, this update addresses issues related to overall reliability and performance in a number of areas, including:

  • Contact sheet printing -
  • Smart Albums -
  • Watermarks -
  • Lift and stamp -
  • Image export -
  • Versions created using an external editor -

Apple recommends this update for all Aperture users. I'm going to download it now...

Funny ... I just exported an image and saw a funny line on it and remembered this happened once before in v1.0 and they issued an update right away. ...so I just figured I'd go check Software Update and 1.5.2 was there. Apple is getting very good at patching quickly.

Still no fix for the crappy RAW conversion?

Good to see that they listened to photogs who raised hell over the new handling of watermarks. :-)

Credit to the Aperture for the quick response. Joe Shorr announced the update on the Apple Discussion board. Don't see too many product managers doing that at Apple. I think it shows their commitment to getting this product right and right away!

There's a lot more information on the changes in Aperture 1.5.2 at:

Hey Britton, thanks for that link. You're right, some good stuff in that document.

So far so good with 1.5.2. I've used it now for several hours and am happy with the watermark fixes. As well, it's running smoother than ever.

And yes, credit due to Joe Shorr for participating on the Apple Discussion board. It's nice to see him in there providing input. I hope to see him on the new mailing list that was just created as well.

Now, I'm just hoping for another RAW conversion update. (grin)
