The Team's Images - In Real Time

At the top of the page here it says that we are down here "Overcoming The Challenges of Technology"

Back when I was shooting film, “overcoming challenges in technology” was actually pretty unpleasant; One challenge, for example, was how do I keep from losing the only existing copies of my images with all of the things out there from airport xrays to busy editors to FedEx disasters that conspired to destroy or lose them.

Now with digital photography, there are still plenty of challenges to overcome – probably more! But there is an important difference: In the days of film, my stresses were mostly over all the things that could go wrong. Now, in the world of digital photography, my stresses are mostly over how to possibly do all of the amazing things that can potentially go right!

So here we are in Tasmania, shooting like mad, excited and overwhelmed with all of the amazing possibilities of what we can do with our photos.

One exciting opportunity is pushing out all the work from all the photographers in real-time to an audience on the web. Digital Railroad, a sponsor for the Adventure, plays a very important role in how we plan to do this. Our hope is to use Digital Railroad as our collective online archive, with people uploading images daily and the images from Digital Railroad feeding out to websites. We hope to create an extensive archive that you all can view of what we are shooting in real time through Digital Railroad.

But just like everything in this project, our online publishing is an adventure! Who knows exactly what system the team will ultimately embrace, and what our individual priorities will be. But that is exactly the point of the Adventure – testing these systems and honing our ability to use them.
