Brobdingnagian Vinyard
I had a great drive around Bruny Island yesterday with Bruce Dale, Leo Laporte and Winston Hendrickson. We ran across this vineyard, (GPS) and I loved the graphic quality of the nets covering the grapes. While Winston looks lilliputian in comparison to the grapes, that's not because they grow comically large fruit in Tasmania (nor is it because Winston is a Leprechaun - he's actually a pretty big guy). It's all due to the exaggerated perspective of the ultra-wide view.
The grape vines in the center are only about 10 feet from the camera, while Winston is probably 100 feet away. These images were stitched with the Photomerge feature in Photoshop (absolute magical technology, in my opinion). The new Lightroom beta 2 allows you to export the images to Photomerge directly out of Lightroom with a right-click.
And, no, we did not get to try any wine there - they were closed. But fear not, we've had some really great Tasmanian wine (which is very hard to get even in Mainland Australia, due to small production). In addition to being a photographer's paradise down here, it's also one for foodies (you know who you are). More on that in another post.

An appealing and intriguing image. I am drawn into the middle of it then my eyes look from side to side to finally rest on the 'Liliputian'!
Moreover, your comments on the versatility of Lr2 are interesting.
Balliolman :)
Great shot.
Please tell us more stats about your camera and lens etc.
Just love that we get to see what you are experiencing.
David,
I'm shooting with 2 bodies, a D200 and a D300. Lenses in my kit are 12-24, 50 mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8, 70-200, lensbabies 3G with wide and tele adapters. I borrowed Bruce Dale's 300 mm for a couple shots yesterday.
This shot was done with the 12-24 at 12mm.

Great shot. I'm jealous.
Peter, how many shots did you stitch together?
