New Panorama Gizmo

I'll be trying out a new panorama gizmo while I'm down under. It's a combination of tools - A Manfrotto 300N rotation device, as well as some other connecting stuff - that lets me quickly create panoramas with evenly spaced frames. The horizontal bar lets the camera rotate around the nodal point of the lens.

There are a couple cool things about this arrangement. The first is that the Manfrotto device has an adjustable number of clickstops, so you can set it create images spaced appropriately for different lenses quickly.

The Quick Release (Arca compatible) lets me put this device between my regular ball head and the camera when I want to make a pano sequence - no unscrewing heads.

The top piece, a Giottos quick release clamp has a bubble level on it so that I can rapidly level out the camera for neat and easy stitching.

That looks like a really interesting setup Peter. I'm looking forward to seeing what can be done with that. Will you be posting panoramas shot with that equipment along with the other photos shot from the Adventure. Or will that the panoramic shots have their own section located elsewhere?

Peter,
Cool! I'm going to bring my nodal ninja with a sigma 8mm lens for quick and dirty QTVRs. Looking forward to geeking out with this stuff down there with you.

Yes, we'll be showing some panos. I'm not sure exactly how - some of the material will be on Digital Railroad. I'd like to use Zoomify on some of these, but have not worked out just how tat would get posted yet.
